Community Activity: Chewelah Farmers Market
11:00 am-3:30 pm
Chewelah City Park, N Park St, Chewelah, WA 99109 | MapExpect a variety of in-season, farm-fresh fruits and vegetables every week as well as vegetable/flower potted plants, fresh-cut flowers, and mushrooms. We have quality beef, pork, goat, and lamb meat, eggs, and dairy products available. Our prepared food vendors take pride in delighting our visitors! Expect new specials every week that augment their regular menus. For that sweet tooth, we have fresh buttermilk donuts that are made at the market. We have a rich abundance of talented artisans who round out our market vendors. Our vendors are vetted, and all of their products are designed and crafted by the artist. We also welcome local, community-focused, non-profit organizations to our market.
We are family-friendly! Children can take part in the KERNEL Program (Kids Eating Right Nutrition and Exercise for Life) which is a nutrition and physical activity program designed to engage children in learning about lifelong healthy eating habits, gardening, and exercise. Each participating child receives a $2 coupon to spend in the market on fruit and vegetables. Special monthly events include the Cherry Splat contest, the Independence Day Celebration, the Zucchini Regatta, the Apple Pie Eating Contest, and Pumpkin Bowling. All of these events have prizes for winners in 3 age categories. Every week, weather permitting, we crank up the tunes and provide a variety of live music. The annual Christmas Faire is the 1st Saturday of December when the market sets up in downtown Chewelah and joins in with the town’s festival of City Sidewalks.
Our market participates in the SNAP/EBT program. Go to the market booth, swipe your card for the amount you want, and you will receive market EBT tokens and in addition, receive that same amount in SNAP Market Match dollars up to $25. Additionally, we take part in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program. This is 2 programs combined: a program for Women & Infant Children (WIC) and one for seniors.
If you search for us on Facebook or Instagram, you will find weekly updates with vendor profiles and items of interest during the market season. Interested in being a vendor? The application and regulations are on our website at https://chewelahfarmersmarket.com, Have questions? Interested in volunteering? 12:00 pm-2:00 pm
*Yep Kanum Park, 3565 E. Dominion Colville | MapJoin us for a community picnic, May 10: noon-2 -- bring a side dish to share, and your own utensils and chair; we will provide burgers and dogs. We will share insights in how to talk with our neighbors about real issues while we enjoy lunch and make new friends.
We are the Finding Common Ground coalition, a group of organizations and individuals who believe that we - all of us - are more aligned than divided.
Our coalition coordinates events that get people talking and sharing their voices, including bi-monthly Community Socials where we learn how to talk to our neighbors who hold opinions different than our own.
