About the Chewelah Arts Guild
The Chewelah Arts Guild is a vibrant nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing creativity in Chewelah and the surrounding region. Founded in 1999, the Guild exists to support the growth, development, appreciation, and accessibility of the arts in all their forms. From paintbrush to poetry, from quilting needles to concert halls, the Guild believes art belongs to everyone.
Throughout the year, the Guild produces and sponsors a rich calendar of community events, including the Annual Community Art Show, Children’s Art Festival, Recycled ArtsFest, quilt exhibitions, concerts, and engaging artist talks. These gatherings transform parks, galleries, and public spaces into living canvases where creativity is not only displayed but shared.
Education is at the heart of the Guild’s mission. Through its Arts in Schools Program, professional artists bring hands-on experiences directly into classrooms, giving students opportunities to explore visual arts, writing, music, dance, and more. Scholarships and mini-grants further extend that support, helping emerging and returning artists pursue their creative paths.
More than an arts organization, the Guild serves as a cultural catalyst, strengthening community connections and enriching local life through imagination, expression, and opportunity. Download the flyer

Inspiration Takes Flight in Hands-On Arts Programs Participants young and old learn a magic trick they can perform themselves, and then discover the secret to the biggest magic trick of all; how to take your own
ideas and make them a reality. Inspired by the ingenuity seen in the Italian Renaissance, these inspiring, hands-on workshops are both unforgettable fun and a game-changing life lesson in self actualization. Led by Phina Pipia, students come away laughing, energized, and
with the power to unlock their own creative potential.
Workshop Duration: 50 minutes
Format: interactive
Number of people: 12 (more participants possible with an assistant)
Age: 6+ As a professional dancer, Pipia worked in New York City with choreographers Julian Barnett and Cori Kresge. One woman. One time machine. Five hundred years of chaos.
What's the Story?
Hailed as “imaginative, intelligent, and strangely mesmerizing” by the San Diego Union Tribune, Phina Pipia's award–winning solo show captivates audiences young and old.
Phina Pipia's solo creation Ha Ha Da Vinci is a whimsical theatrical odyssey that invites audiences into a world where a tuba lights the way, beds make music, paintings come to life, and a mysterious radio broadcasts echoes from the Renaissance. A curious grad student is whisked back in time after discovering that Leonardo da Vinci and his collaborator Luca Pacioli built a time machine, and must unravel clues drawn from their genius to return to the present. This award-winning production combines illusion, music, theater, and storytelling in a singularly playful and thought-provoking experience.
Developed in residence at the Centrum Foundation for the Arts and the Chameleon Theater, Ha Ha Da Vinci has toured across the United States, Canada, and internationally, earning accolades including Best Solo Musical at Orlando Fringe, Best Solo Show at San Diego International Fringe, and top festival picks from PBS and critics nationwide.
Ha Ha Da Vinci invites audiences of all ages into a world where they can safely expect the delightfully unexpected.
